\n Your ideas are awesome and I love how easy they are to follow and understand. I read your questions about how to post and site your sources, and I thought perhaps you should look how wikipedia does theirs. They use pretty simple footnotes and it makes it easy to read. Then you can provide links to the sites when they are posted, both linked to the bottom AND linked to the actual site. It would allow your teachers to connect to all your information in both forms.
\nAnd maybe a quiz isn't the right thing for your teacher readers, but perhaps ideas on how to bring that into the classroom (like application ideas) in the form of a powerpoint\/table\/etc. That might be a really interesting idea so that teachers can make a further connection about the history to their classrooms.
\n
\nGreat work guys!","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"4726417","body":"I am leaning toward what Meredith is saying as well. Wikipedia does use footnotes (which is more Chicago style) and I guess we could use APA style in the references section. I think this may be a Dr. Coffman decision kind of thing.

\nAlso, I like Meredith's suggestion of ideas on bringing the quiz into the classroom.","dateCreated":"1214273766","smartDate":"Jun 23, 2008","userCreated":{"username":"lraff5cy","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/lraff5cy","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1211753472\/lraff5cy-lg.jpg"}},{"id":"4726629","body":"I'm still pretty torn on the citation thing. This is still supposed to be a book in the educational realm. That definitely falls under the scope of APA whereas Chicago Manual of Style is generally used in history, literature, arts, natural and social sciences, etc. I definitely consider the grander intent of this book to be much more formal that the format used by wikipedia so that needs some consideration as well.
\n
\nI think that I like the idea of adding a category for "extended learning" including some specific and not so specific questions that readers could find or develop answers for. I wonder, would a teacher use this for his or her students in grade schools? I am just not sure.","dateCreated":"1214275394","smartDate":"Jun 23, 2008","userCreated":{"username":"mellott","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/mellott","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}}],"more":0}]},{"id":"4713903","dateCreated":"1214159246","smartDate":"Jun 22, 2008","userCreated":{"username":"lraff5cy","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/lraff5cy","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1211753472\/lraff5cy-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/mellott.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/4713903"},"dateDigested":1532389699,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Minor corrections","description":"Brian I think your entry is great and I would only make a couple minor changes, mainly omitting the word "we." In your first sentence you write, "Before we think about the current definitions . . ." and I would just change that to "Before thinking about current definitions . . ." Then you write near the end, "Today, we view literacy in many lights." I would make that "Today, literacy is viewed in many lights." It's passive voice, I know, but I just feel the word "we" makes it too personal rather than informative. That's is just my opinion and too many years hanging out with the History department at main campus.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"4714113","body":"Great catch! I am normally very anti-first-person, but wanted to reserve most of that editing until the group decides how personal they want the book to proceed. If we are directing this towards other educators, do we want to draw them in? If this is an interactive book, should the readers feel like they are part of the text? I am unsure of how the "rules" for an e-book are different from a paper one. These are questions that this group, future classes, and Dr. Coffman will have to engage before this book is complete.","dateCreated":"1214162410","smartDate":"Jun 22, 2008","userCreated":{"username":"mellott","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/mellott","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"4714189","body":"I am not sure either if we are directing this to a specific audience or not. I guess I was thinking along the lines that it would be available to anybody searching wikipedia, which may or may not be educators.
